Getting into Law School

Students should contact Dr. Daryl Fair or another Pre-Law Advisor just as soon as they realize they have an interest in applying to law school.  This may be as early as the spring semester of their high school year or as late as their junior year.  Dr. Fair or another Pre-Law Advisor can be useful from the start, both to help students choose a major and select courses and, more generally, to help students understand the essential components of the law school application process.

By the end of the first semester of the junior year, students, in consultation with Dr. Fair or another Pre-Law Advisor, should decide when they will take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and how they will prepare for that critical exam.  By the end of the second semester of the junior year, students should begin to identify law schools of interest to them and should ask their professors at the college for letters of recommendation.

The names, departments, telephone numbers and email addresses of Dr. Fair and each other Pre-Law Advisor are noted on the left-hand side of this page.  It can also be useful to discuss the application process as well as specific law schools with more than one member of the committee.
